Crock Pots, The “It” Appliance?
I can’t tell you how many people I know that have gotten married over the last year! There was a lot! I noticed on most of the registries that a crock pot was pretty popular or should I say slow cookers? That’s the new term. Crock pots are what our moms used, right? Which does bring me back to childhood when my mom would use her crock pot from the 80s, pretty often. It was almost magical in a way, as a child I thought you could put anything in there in the morning and by dinner time it would turn into a meal. A tasty meal that is. Crock pots…*ahem*, I mean slow cookers aren’t just for making stews and chili, I’ve had a friend make berry cobbler once, let me tell you, it was sooo good! There are so many varieties of appetizers/meals/desserts you can create with slow cookers now-a-days.
You might be thinking, they’re so expensive and bulky and ugly. Well they used to be and they used to be a pain to clean too. But now, there’s a variety of sizes perfect for apartment living. Not to mention you can take the “dish” part out and stick it in the dishwasher. It’s so perfect for busy life styles and it allows you to make large portions, so if you don’t have time to cook every night, you’ll have left overs.
Maybe you have a party one night and don’t have time to slave over the stove, while you prepare everything else for your guests. Throw some things in (I recommend following a recipe though) and by the time your guests arrive you’ve got yourself something yummy and I bet it’ll make your apartment smell good! I find a crock pot pretty error proof.

Quick Draw

After the most anticipated match of group play in the 2010 FIFA World Cup ended this past Saturday, the United States and England found themselves at a 1-1 draw. Not the prettiest game for either team, as defensive mistake led to goals for each, but it’s a positive start for both campaigns.
The U.S. fought back after a shaky start, conceding a goal in first 5 minutes of the match, to tie the game late in the first half when a shot from Clint Dempsey trickled into the back of the net. The second half saw chances for both teams end unsuccessfully as both teams’ keepers made key saves.
Now that the nerves are out, the U.S. and England must put together strong performances to ensure they’ll moving forward and have a chance to win the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Small Spaces, Big Solutions

Do you have an area in your apartment that’s a bit smaller than you’d like?
We all run into to this problem at some point or another, but the real question is how to turn that small space into a positive. Here are a few ways you can use smaller areas to your advantage:
- Mirrors – Some people say to add mirrors to a small area to create space. But you could actually be just emphasizing that the room is small. Try something else, embrace the size of the room and hang some of your best art on the wall. It can now be a focus of the room.
- Print – “You’ll crowd a room if you have too many styles of print.” No no no, you can really help the room and take on a different technique by trying out different prints to your room.
- Clutter – Other say to get rid of small knick-knacks all over your space to remove clutter. But how about collectively putting them together? This way all the items are one collective item.
