The Girls Gone Green, Whole Foods Market and Global Greenup are hosting the Earth Day Fair 2010, an event unlike any other Earth Day celebration that Jacksonville has ever seen! People are invited to join us throughout the day on Wednesday, April 21st from 10am to 9pm at Whole Foods Market on San Jose Blvd. for an exciting day of reducing, reusing and recycling.
Conex Recycling, Teacher Supply Depot, Recycling E-Scrap will be on-hand collecting paper, plastic, glass, unused furniture, office items, and discarded electronics all to be recycled or reused. Participants are also encouraged to bring clothes, hats, board games, toys and more to swap out in our Kids Clothing and Toy Swap. Parents and kids can exchange those toys they just do use anymore for something “new.” All extra clothes will be donated to City Rescue Mission. We will also have several other green business vendors and non-profits. It is FREE to set up as a vendor at the event. If you are interested in becoming a vendor, please contact Martin at info@globalgreenup.com
Whole Foods Market will donate FIVE PERCENT of the day’s net sales to The Girls Gone Green, a local 501c(3) non-profit devoted to raising awareness about our planet’s plight by producing news segments, appearing on radio shows and hosting festivals and conventions along with various outreach programs. The Girls Gone Green is excited to partner with Whole Foods Market and Global Greenup to put on such a unique event.

Are you still charging your phone with a cord attached to an OUTLET!?
Pfff, that was SO 2009. This is 2010.
Introducing “Blue Earth” by Samsung – The world’s first solar powered full-touch smart phone. This phone is not only smart because it enables its users to download the latest useful apps and search the web, but also because it converts energy from the sun to power itself. 95% of the energy used by cell phone chargers is WASTED, while only 5% is actually used for your cellular device (assuming you keep it plugged in at all times like most people…including myself ). Blue Earth is taking an active approach to dealing with this issue by allowing you to charge your phone simply by walking outside, but that’s not the only eco-friendly feature about this cell phone. Here’s a run down of a few more reasons you should invest in a Blue Earth.
Solar-panel on back of phone
Made from recycled plastic extracted from water bottles
Free from harmful substances
Eco-Mode
5 star energy efficient charger (If needed)
Small and light package made from recycled paper

While it seems like everyone has realized that there must be a change to our lifestyles in order to preserve this planet, few are willing to give up the luxuries that many of us have come accustomed to over the years.
Still driving a car that sucks down gas like Frank The Tank?
It’s time to make a change, my man.
Recently, Nissan has announced their development of a completely gas free car, the LEAF. Skeptical at first, I decided to do a little research about this eco-friendly ride. Here are a few things that I’ve discovered:
No Tailpipes – The Leaf is 100% battery powered resulting in Zero emissions.
100 Miles per Charge – While you won’t be able to go on a cross country road trip, you’ll still be able to make it to work, the grocery store, and back home all in one charge.
Power – Even with a loaded vehicle (Up to 5 passengers) the car still performs at full power.
Estimated Cost = $25,000-$30,000
OK, OK… So it’s not the sweet hover crafts I thought we’d be cruising in by now like on The Jetsons, but it’s definitely a step towards the future.
